Live event for the annual Souq Fann (Amman, Jordan)

A logo I designed and then drew in chalk on the streets for a time lapse video. A big thanks for filmmaker and photographer Adam Shamash and his awesome skills.
I’m happy to announce that we just finished a 35 meter mural painting in Swefieh, a neighborhood in Amman. The project was commissioned by the Canadian ambassador, and was meant to represent Canadian culture & meeting points with Jordan. I decided to represent the two different lands from an equal standpoint, each taking up half the image. Both of them are tending towards the same center- a geometric sun that fills up the whole sky with patterned light.
Chittaara is an exquisite mural art from Southern India, which has traditionally painted by the women of the Deewaru community. It is painted freehand, using pigments such as pounded rice (white), mud (red), and gurige seeds (yellow). Each pattern has roots in the community’s traditional cosmology, with motifs reflecting nature, the cycles of agriculture, and religious and cultural practices.
Contemporary forms of Chittaara include paintings on rice paper, ceramics, and baskets.
A stunning 1 hour documentary about the complex geometry underlying the medieval cathedral of Chartres, France.
Hello readers! This site will no longer be only for my online portfolio, but rather a journal of inspirations of art forms from all over the world. I’ll also put updates on what I’m up to. I plan to continue updating my new projects on my flickr site, triptothemoon, as soon as I have the time. Thanks for looking!
For June 5th, World Environment Day, I designed a mural for a 25 metre wall and directed a group of 20 participants in filling it in. It was an amazing experience- we finished the whole thing in 3 hours! Many people were painting for the first time, and everyone knew what to do thanks to a good amount of preplanning.
Check out more photos of the event!
